Skin problems

My male potbelly has begun to act depressed. I thought it was the change in weather (he doesnt appreciate the cold) but I also noticed he is scratching all the time. Now, he has developed a rash that looks like chicken pox. He has dime or nickle size red raised areas with a pustule in the center. What the heck is going on? The vet cant get him in for 2 days, and I am worried. He is just a baby yet (5 months) and I would appreciate any info. Thanks !

When I had my pigs they constantly kept getting little bugs on them that itch (I know because whenever I would pick them off some would end up getting on me) My pigs itched alot. Why don't you see if you can see any bugs on it. If so you could use Ivamec (i think thats how its spelled) pour on that you could probaly find at a feed store or vets.

Don't Worry!

It could be an infection and in that case the vet will give you some antibiotic cream and it will clear right up, but in the mean time give him a bath and scrub hard! it wont hurt him promise. Also if it's dry skin I put oil-free lotion on my little girl. She squeals and doesnt like it but appreciates it later. And play a bunch with your pig! Play silly music and wrap up carrots in a pieces of newspaper and hide them all around when your pig isnt looking. It will cheer them up to feel like they are accomplishing a challenge!!
