I might get one, what do you think?

I have always wanted a pet since I had to get rid of my dogs as a child. I had very severe allergies to cats and dogs, still do. I am being tested for pig soon, but the general feeling is that rarely people are allergic to pigs.

I live in a smaller house in the city. I couldn't really give the pig its own room or pen outside. We could make him a little house inside for his box and maybe a bed.

I am hoping to get one who's parents were smaller in hopes that he would remain smaller. Is that realistic. I have read that the pigs do better in pairs, but that is out of the question. Is that a major concern? The "only" pig syndrome?

So do you still think it could be an option? We would need to leave the pig inside while we worked. I could probably gate him into an area. I know we would love the hell out of the pig, but I want to make sure they could adapt to our lifestyle.

Any suggestions would be great.

Doesn't sound like a pig should be in your future considering there is little chance it would conform to your lifestyle, you would have conform to it's lifestyle!
Pigs aren't like dogs! Dogs are eager to please you but a pig is most happy when you please it!
Cooping one up in a room all day alone while you are gone would be cruel.

getting a pig

Hi, i really wouldn't recomend getting a PBP. They are amazingly clever and will get bored if they dont have a friend or space and toys. Bordem leads to them being destructive and getting depressed. Please reconsider and maybe adopt a bird or a mexican hairless dog, ive heard that they are good for allergy sufferers.
Good Luck

it will break your heart

I think if you are really an animal lover it would break your heart to get a pig. They really know how to get to you and soon you would be staying home from work everyday to take it to play somewhere. Then you could not afford to keep it. Please get something smaller or volunteer at a sanctuary or shelter and love an animal that could use some person time. You will be a lot happier.

I agree with the above posters, it doesn't sound like you have an ideal situation for a pig, no matter how much you will love it. Pigs need to be outside to play and be "pigs"... not cooped up in a small space inside. I would suggest you find something else that can be content in a small place.
