Arabian Angel Fish, Asfur Angelfish, Asfur Angel Fish Scientific Name: Arusetta asfur Basic Info This medium-sized Angelfish has a rich dark blue body with yellow crescent on each side. Its coloration is similar to the Blue Moon Angelfish, however, the Arabian Angelfish is a darker blue and is smaller than the Blue Moon Angelfish. Also known as the Asfur Angelfish this fish occurs almost exclusively in the Red Sea and as a result prefers a higher than normal specific gravity. Health N/A
Habitat Saltwater fish - Smaller Arabian Angelfish can be kept in aquariums of 55 gallons and up. Larger Arabian angelfish require aquariums of at least 120 gallons. Behavior The Arabian Angelfish is relatively rare in the pet trade. It is, however, one of the most sought after Angelfish available today. It is also usually quite expensive. Generally 1.026 and above will keep this fish happy. As is the case with most Red Sea fish this angelfish is quite hardy and can be expected to live a long time in an aquarium system with good conditions. Origin Red Sea History Most angelfish are not considered reef safe and the Asfur angelfish is no exception. However, it is spectacular addition to any aquarium. Since it is a larger than average angelfish it should it requires a larger than average aquarium. Common Foods The Arabian Angelfish will eat a wide variety of foods including some flake food, mussels, clams, shrimp, and krill. |
